Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
I came upon these sunflowers growing on the edge of a pumpkin patch in Stonewall Texas. As I studied them, I noticed that, as they aged in the cool fall weather, their colors seemed to flare and burn brighter before finally turning brown. I can definitely relate, being in the fall season of my life, and was reminded of the first line of a favorite poem by Dylan Thomas. The image seen here is an amended version of one previously posted. I have altered the painting to add a bright blue gouache sky to contrast with the sunflowers. I like it much better now, and have deleted the previous image.

My favorite medium is transparent watercolor. I love the way the paper glows through layers of paint, and the way the paint has a mind of its own. Only with watercolor can you not assume that the paint will be obedient and stay where and as you put it. It is very much a living medium, that(on good days) cooperates with the painter to create art. I feel blessed to live near the beautiful Guadalupe River, and all the varied sights of the Central Texas Area. I am a signature member of the Texas Watercolor Society, and an associate member of the...

Thank you VIVA! I just wasn't happy with it originally, and decided that the most I was risking was messing up a painting I felt lukewarm about. A little gouache can sometimes work wonders!
